A MEMORABLE EVENT AT TANTALUS
As one of the most iconic locations on Waiheke Island, hosting your event at Tantalus Estate is guaranteed to impress guests and delegates, and leave a lasting impression.
Just under 20 minutes drive from the passenger ferry terminal at Matiatia, Tantalus Estate is nestled in Onetangi Valley, the premier winegrowing region on the island. Our beautiful architecturally designed building has been intentionally planned to meet different event requirements. The layout has remarkable flexibility, depending on your vision.
The Estate Restaurant accommodates up to 160 guests seated or 200 guests standing. It can also offer a private area in the Pavilion for smaller groups, if you don’t wish to hire the entire Restaurant area. The indoor-outdoor flow from the vineyard to the verandah and into the main restaurant offers a seamless transition for guests.
The Decanter Room is located on the ground level and is a private, luxuriously appointed dining room that welcomes 20 guests for a seated meal, or 30 guests for a standing cocktail function. It has an adjoining spacious private courtyard.
Our best kept secret is the moody Alibi Brewer’s Lounge. An intimate and stylish bar that features leather armchairs, cosy seating, open fireplace, bespoke bar with beer taps, and hightops for a relaxed atmosphere. The is the perfect location for a dance floor, and it is appointed with a state of the art sound system. The Alibi Brewer’s Lounge opens out to its own secluded courtyard. This is the ideal location for an upmarket private lounge bar party.
Break out
The grounds surrounding the Estate are perfect for guests when there are breaks from your event programme. Thoughtfully landscaped gardens, grassed lawns, vineyard rows, olive groves, macadamia trees and a peaceful native forest walkway all provide guests an opportunity to take in the fresh air and sunshine.
Restaurant catering and Beverages
Our Events Manager can take you through our options. We have a range of menu styles to suit all occasions.
Our philosophy is to showcase the diversity of New Zealand’s seasonal ingredients. Executive Chef Gideon Landman offers refined, tantalising dishes with bold flavours and exciting textures. The menu emphasises seasonality with a commitment to highlighting the provenance of ingredients. From canapes styled menus to five course degustation menus, we pride ourselves on offering some of the finest cuisine on Waiheke Island.
For your event, we offer a full range of beverages, including our premium Estate wine range, and on-site Alibi Brewing Co. batch brewed craft beers. Our beverage list has been curated to include an extensive selection of fine international wines and spirits.
VENUE FLEXIBILITY
At Tantalus Estate you can have your event at a stunning location just 35 minutes by ferry from central Auckland.
Just 15 minutes drive from the ferry terminal, nestled in the sheltered vineyards of Tantalus Estate, stands our beautifully designed building. It’s a remarkably flexible venue, easily able to meet different requirements.
Our main restaurant seats up to 200 guests, yet can also offer private areas for smaller groups.
Our private dining room welcomes 22 guests for a seated meal, or accommodates 50 for a cocktail function. We also have a secret space downstairs, which offers a peek into our Alibi Brewer’s Lounge.
If time permits, guests can stroll through the vines. The estate is home to a wealth of native trees, an olive grove, macadamia trees and an apiary.
Canapés anyone? Welcome to the conservatory, or the bright, expansive cellar door space.
Our dishes are rustic and refined with bold flavours, contrasting textures, and freshness. Our kitchen strives to use ingredients local to Waiheke Island and New Zealand, to give us fresh, seasonal and sustainable fare that complements our hand-crafted wines and beers.
The indoor-outdoor flow from the vineyard to the verandah and on into the main restaurant provides a seamless transition for our guests.
